| I broke my bow. Kaya bibili ng bago. Oh well. Dried and aged pernambuco siya. Pro level. Market price 18k. Whaaat?! Syempre I am not buying, but if I get a good deal, hehe... Which led me to research. Iba pa ba ito sa Corelli-Tartini bow or same lang sila or meron bang exclusive Corelli bow or brand ba ang Corelli ng bow or what? Ang gusto ko kasi ma-play most genres of music (pero I am thinking of going classical all the way, ehek), so dapat flexible ang bow. Out na rito ang baroque bows, I suppose? So dapat yung weight not too light. With lighter bows, mahirap ang quick notes. Is it true na magaan daw ang carbon fiber bows? May effect ba ang wounding, pad, at frog as far as playing, techniques, and sound are concerned? Sorry ang gulo ng mga katanungan ko. Naguguluhan din kasi ako. I am ranting, haha. Your thoughts and opinions will be appreciated in a major major way! |

| Kung di ka pa expert, Get a Carbon FIber bow.. Abuse it on your practice and you will appreciate your investment..
But if you get used to your new bow, wala nang effect yun..
Sa mga frogs, wounding at padding, they contribute to the feel and weight (up to the Milligram only, kaya kung kasing sensitive ng jewelry scales ang kamay mo pagdating sa bigat, then it should be a big deal.. otherwise, hehehe.. ok lang yun).. Besides that, ornamental na lahat yun.. |

| Eh what if yung bow na tinutukoy ko is given an almost 75% discount? Why a ridiculously huge amount of discount? Long story, haha. Carbon fiber pa rin ba ang pipiliin? |

| @angus i am not sure kung may brand na "Corelli" ...what i'm sure of is this - 1.) Baroque Bows (especially early baroque bows) are generally shorter than Modern Bows. But around 1790s when Corelli and his music were in fashion nauso yung "Long Sonata Bow" and since favored 'to ni Corelli it's also called a "Corelli bow" 2. Below a photo of an Early Baroque Bow, a Cramer/Dodd bow, and a modern bow 3. Tartini had several baroque bows ... 2 survive in the Museum in Trieste, Italy. It's also long... like the Corelli bow.... a. Tartini's bows b. Tartini's bow in blackened wood, and copies... tightened to playing tension and loosened hair ::::::::::: **Carbon fiber bow - the best lalo na kung harabasang tugtugan ... pag nalaglag, hindi nababali basta basta, unlike wooden bows... ^_^
I think you will need to play long slurred notes, so i suggest a modern bow. Mabibitin ka kung maikli ang bow.
If you need power, kailangan din ng modern bow. In my experience, hindi ka makakapagpatili ng violin with a baroque bow. Too often nalulunod ako sa tugtugan with PV peeps.... |

Si Sarah chang may apat na bow (walang baroque) puro modern.. hehehe meron siyang pernambuco for usual practice and smooth playing.. For concertos and solos, She uses her PICCATE bow that overpowers around 40piece string orchestra.. Si Janine Jansen mukhang pernambuko din.. :D Si perlman kahoy din... yata hehehe |

| Yay! I have it na. Pernambuco bow.
@Ron Thanks for the info!

I'm not really sure about this, pero I think hindi naman ako ipapahamak nung nagsabi sa akin nun. In his words, it has superior balance at camber bounce, kung ano man yun, haha. |

@angus ang totoong "pro" level bow is a lot more expensive than 18k. some current violin students sa UP have $2000 bows they bought on installment from sir toti. my personal bow I also bought from sir toti is around $800 current price.
I'm willing to help anyone choose a bow even if you're buying from someone else. magtext lang kayo.

| Thank you ulit sir Rommel.

| Thanks Sir Rommel for the additional info!

| @jollyclay - pernambuco bows will not catch your interest because they almost look the same as with ordinary bows. those bows that you saw(only 1 left in that batch) are actually very good bows, otherwise orchestra members wouldn't bother trying and then buying them. you will only feel the huge difference as compared to ordinary bows when you play and try them one by one. I have other pernambuco bows like the one with silver tip might catch your interest but these silver fittings are just cosmetic things. I had two very good silver tipped bow and one gold fitted bow but those were sold a few hours after the bows arrived. I have a new batch of pernambuco bows(62-63grams) arriving this january. The first batch was around 60grams. You can try all of them if you want.
pag wala pa rosin ang bow it only means wala pa nagtry sa bow na yun, and your not supposed to try only the bow that already has rosin on it but you have to try all the bows available. that is the only way you will know the difference of each bow.
@kanjiruminamoto - 7500 ang pernambuco bows ko. believe it or not 7500 is a very cheap price for a good pernambuco bow. When I started looking for a good pernambuco bow to buy for myself, the cheapest one I found was 15K and that was 10 years ago. |
