Well you subconsciously contradictorily agreed upon my answer. "mag mimix and match na lang sya then nyung next step", it doesn't exist pero dahil sau it does.

@ALL GUYS, UI MGA DIFFERENT OPINIONS TO HA? SO DON'T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. IF I FOUND IT NA NAKAKASAMA SATEN. I WON'T THINK TWICE NA ISARA ANG THREAD.

@Prezzy I don't think anyone is offended so far. As mature forumers, we should all know how to agree to disagree.

Parang sa Tangled lang:

"What happens if your dream is fulfilled?"

... "Then, you should have another dream to fulfill!" (I paraphrased, ayon sa aking pagkakaunawa)

:) Dreams, ambitions and goals never stop. That's why we can't have just one dream, ambition and goal..

My ambition...in 10 years be good enough to merit an audition with the FILharmoniKA (or MSO) -- if I pass, then it exceeds expectations. If not, well, I'll be content knowing my skills are good enough for them to have given my playing the time of day.

If I PASS the audtion, I want to be the one to take over Sensei's place kasi by then Concert Master na malamang sya with the Kremerata Balitica! *woot*woot* Also, sharing below my own way of positively re-inforcing this ambition! AhaHa!

Bawal Basag Trip! Or Else. *evil smile*

True! True!

Sumimasen. XD

Hmmmmm... Yup I agree, but I see it in 2 ways. the "Patch dream", magtatagpi tagpi ka ng dreams, And dreams on a grand scale like the "Jigsaw", each pieces is related to each other, joining together to create a much bigger picture.

What I meant sa "Patch dream", sabihin natin na na-accomplish ko na ang violin, then have another dream na naman ba? like cooking, sports, crafts, performing arts, Visual arts, literature etc... where will I end up? Jack of all trades?

Una kong nagustuhan mag violin dahil fan ako ng The Corrs nung 90's. Haha.

@merrycrystal

agree much !!! .. i don't blame the Teacher though ... i know she's good... i blame the Method (the text book) and the Approach. The methods in My Opinion are not Filipino Child-Friendly...

and what good is music if they are only in words printed on pages....

I remember my conversations with my Eldest Niece this morning. She is in college.... i told her = i remember back in 1st year High School, in our Philippine History/Sibika class... we were learning the Different Trees of the Philippines.... Yakal, Nara, Kamagong etc etc etc ...and i told her BUT NO PICTURES TO ILLUSTRATE !!! ... STUPID isn't it ????

we were forced to learn the names, without knowing how they look like... i did not enjoy learning them. >_<

How Big is your Ambition? - Page 2 Vide
PostSubject: Re: How Big is your Ambition?   How Big is your Ambition? - Page 2 EmptySun Feb 27, 2011 8:47 am

Tama Ron. I was blessed with good music teachers from elementary and high school kahit na laking public school ako. Siguro blessed ako personally in terms of music education dahil prineprepare talaga ako ni God maging good educator. I remembered nung elementary ako alam ko na yung circle of fifths and note reading. Nung high school naman, I learned music dahil part ako ng chorale and I'm lucky enough to be trained by a music major graduate (pwu din yung hs music teacher ko, and naging prof pa nya sila L. Kasilag, Buenaventura, at iba pang national artist for music). :))

Kaya I'm dreaming and believing na magkaroon ako ng influence sa DepEd to prioritize music as part of the BEC. Minsan kasi yung music class, nagiging kantahan portion na lang at wala na ang essence of analyzing what music is all about. I don't blame appreciation dahil magandang method yun, pero not all the time appreciation will let the students understand what music really is.

Malaking factor din ang parents in terms of education. Minsan kasi ang mga parents, they prioritize the "major subjects" (a.k.a Math, English, Science). I strongly disagree to that notion. In the ancient times, Music is one of the highest subject. Kaya they should never make Music lower than those subjects. Actually, kahit ano namang subjects kahit Home Economics at Values Education, pantay-pantay dapat ang treatment. Walang Higher or lesser subject. Every subject allows us to learn equally. It depends on how we view the subject.

@Oli
Kung ganun sila ka-nationalistic. Why don't they promote our OWN music? :))

One thing is sure, though.

Kasi pagka homegrown talent, parang ang tagal suportahan may it be gov't or ng masa. Parang it needs to be a fad pa bago pa talaga nila ma-realize ang importance ng music education sa atin. :(

How Big is your Ambition? - Page 2 Vide
PostSubject: Re: How Big is your Ambition?   How Big is your Ambition? - Page 2 EmptySun Feb 27, 2011 11:47 pm

Hmmmmm....

Also, hinde nila kailangan maging musician para ma appreciate ang music, the same way with arts & literature.

Law & civil? maraming mag aalboroto. May kanyang kanyang field ang mga tao.

EDIT:

On the other hand.

Hinde ko minamaliit ang music, As a matter of fact I like it! I'd even vote for it na magkaroon ng changes and upgrade ang music education natin... simply because I love music too. but then, hinde lahat ay enthusiast matuto ng musical literacy, nasa minority pa rin tayo. kadalasan kontento na ang karamihan maging ear/widow player... I bet na mas marami pa rin ang Jeepney driver kesa sa musicians as a profession. ^^;

My View is this = Sa Pilipinas as a third world country .... Literate < Functionally Illiterate (and Musically Literate < Musically Illiterate).

Good point.

Pero, I think more people will worry about feeding their families first rather than seek the finer things. Lalo na pag maagang nagkaanak, gustuhin man nila mag spend ng time for arts and music, di na practical.

In an ideal world, ma aafford ng lahat na intresadong matuto ng music maging musicians, but in a more realistic setting, music is a 'luxury' that many wants, but few can enjoy. Kaya nga hit pa rin ang mga radyo stations, libreng music for those who cannot play it.

What I'm trying to say is...may mga taong iginagapang na ang highschool, these people cannot afford to buy even the cheapest music instrument, lalo na kung baon pa lang ay problema na. Yes, changing the current music education in high school sounds great, but in application? Not practical, unless magproprovide din ang government ng free instruments...and we all know how impossible that is, at our current situation. How Big is your Ambition? - Page 2 249180

Personally, I prefer na unahin muna nila ang infrastructures at healthcare bago yung ibang projects. Pag maunlad na tayo, music is no longer a dream, we live it.

@Tal,

Thinking like a corrupt criminal here, ang style ng pagbubulsa ay paunti unti... kaso pwede ring malakihan ... as in BILYONES !!! ... ;-)

pano nangyari to ??? ...

But these are all just my theories... i don't have concrete proof on ink and paper to show the whole world. ... ;-)

Anyway, we are relatively a young country... run by mostly "old dogs" ... and they say "one cannot teach old dog new tricks" .... ;-)

... i don't know... anyway may temptation for me na umalis ng bansa since 2004... but hey ... i'm still here !!! ... ahahaha.... ;-) ♥

Last year nakapasok ako sa brent international school, may sarili silang orchestra.

It will be part of leisure time nalang. and just like mga choir and sports, i consider it as a sunday club. kasi syempre i cannot devote myself fully to music. But still, music is part of my life.

hay agree ako, you cant teach old dogs new tricks. Go with the flow nalang. kasi ang mga idealistic pa ang napapahamak.

@ baroqueviolin & makalaarni: agreed!

He he he, hinde ako uma asa sa government... oops! uma asa rin pala, kailangan nilang tapusin agad ung train dito sa bulacan ^^;

Well, the way I see it. in truth hinde ako natuto ng music sa school, at "private" pa ang pinasukan ko. buti pa ung mga public school, mayroon silang brass band.

IMO hinde na responsibilidad ng government ang pagturo ng music sa mga estudyante, Sa magulang ito dapat, 8yrs old ako nagstart mag piano, hook or by crook talagang pinasok ako ng parents ko[iba ang naging teacher ko dahil hinde ako takot sa mga pinsan ko na magtuturo] pati rin ang mga kapatid ko & cousins... it is my heritage, kahit wala sa amin naging professional musicians, pinag aral kami ng music, arts & literature.

Well it is because my family can afford, and the same thing to those who manage to study and buy their instruments.

I serve sa church before. More on reader ang role ko. But not playing a musical instrument. I never had the confidence to do it. But it'll be my goal now. :)
